August Favorites 2015

Welcome to the first "August Favorites" post on Style of Denver!

My goal is to tell you about my new favorite products at the end of each month. I love discovering new things and need to explore more often, so posting each month will help me do just that!

Let's start with the second photo from the top and work our way down:

1.) The Essie nail polish on the left looks like a pretty blush pink color on your nails. The color is called "Romper Room". It's very light and makes your nails POP! I love lighter nail polishes for this reason - they stand out more and are very feminine. "Romper Room" looks cute paired with the color next to it, which I'll introduce to you in a second. Earlier in August, I wore "Romper Room" on my nails with the color next to it on my toes and I loved how neutral they are together, but at the same time they're noticeable!
2.) The Essie nail polish on the right is a pretty mauve taupe color. I love the musky tone of it and I think it would look great against fair skin. Since I have tan skin right now, this color blends in and is subtle on me. The name is fitting because this color is humble, yet unique. It's called "Ladylike". This color is very flattering on your toes or fingers, especially for fall! If you don't know what mauve taupe is, let me show you a color swatch:

3.) Mmmm... this Yankee candle rocks!! I am starting to really like pumpkin scented candles because of this baby right here. I wanted to try a different fall scent other than the traditional fall candles I have burned in the past, so I went with this "Spiced Pumpkin" scent. It is amazing! It smells like the truest and deepest scents of cinnamon and pumpkin mixed together. It's perfect to burn while relaxing inside on a cool fall night.
Yankee Candle Company is currently having a SALE on their fall scents - buy ONE and get one 50% OFF! Take advantage of the sale and fill your home with the beautiful scent of autumn here!

4.) Every time I go into Victoria's Secret, I cannot pass up the opportunity to smell their fragrances! I think they have some of the best perfumes out there. They're all so different and I always find two or three that I could purchase on the spot (but I control myself... sometimes...). "Eau So Sexy" is one of VS's newest fragrances. I find the scent instantly refreshing! The fragrance type is "Fresh gourmand" and it has notes of Bergamot, paradise apples, and Chantilly cream.

5.) Next, we have the "Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfector" by Maybelline. Its main purpose is sunscreen, but it's meant to be worn anytime. I have been eyeing this cream for a while because of Beauty Guru Ingrid Nilsen's recommendation of it. I thought, "She seems to have flawless skin, so how could I pass up going for a drugstore product that improves her complexion?!" The eight benefits it claims to give your skin are:
Blurs imperfections, enhances, brightens, adjusts to skin-tone, hydrates, SPF 30 protects, and it has 0% oils and other heavy ingredients.
Now that's a lot to promise, and honestly, I'm willing to give such a high standard product a chance. I personally love it because it goes on smoothly and I can't tell it's on my skin, even after applying two more layers of foundation (one liquid foundation for dark circles and setting powder). I apply this BB cream to my cheeks and nose because they have seen the most sun and need protection. Another unlisted benefit I have noticed on my skin is this: This cream seriously shrinks my pores! I have very large pores on my cheeks, and I after applying this cream, my cheeks were smooth. (So maybe that's what the benefit of "smooths" means... if so, I think they should state that it shrinks pores because for me, this is more desired than simply smoothing skin! Am I right?!)
I would strongly recommend this product if you are in need of the benefits this BB cream offers.

6.) The "Super Sizer" mascara by CoverGirl is great, too. It's unique because you are supposed to use a certain technique when applying. With that being said, do not use this mascara if you're in a hurry. The first time I tried this, I was in a hurry and regretted it because I knew I could have gotten so much more out of this mascara if I applied the technique through and through. However, the reason that this Super Sizer mascara made it onto the August favorites is because it still made my eyelashes really long and full with no clumps at all even though I was in a hurry. After a few applications of my other mascaras, I get clumps in my lashes, but not with this one! The technique you're supposed to use is a classic one we're all taught - twirl the wand as you swipe the brush from the base of your lash to the ends. This mascara is made to work with this classic technique which makes this mascara that much better for the fullness and length of your lashes.

7.) I have always loved Pantene Pro-V shampoo and conditioner. After a while of using the same type of Pantene shampoo and conditioner, though, my hair stops responding to its benefits, so I have to switch it up. This August, I have been washing and conditioning my hair with the "Ice Shine" version of Pantene. It makes my hair smooth and easy to comb after a shower, blow-dry, and especially straighten. If you hair needs some extra replenishing, especially if you live in a dry climate, I would recommend this Pantene Pro-V "Ice Shine" shampoo and conditioner!

8.) Lastly, I am obsessed with these "Santorini" thick heeled sandals by ShoeDazzle. You may have read my previous reviews on these sandals, but I will say again that they are more comfortable than heels and most wedges. The thicker heel offers more stability and comfort, which I need. Haha.
Get the Santorini Thick Heeled Sandals here!
- The last photo of the sandals is meant to give you a visual of them paired with an outfit. The top and jeans are not listed as August Favorites. :)

Thanks for reading! I can't wait to see what's in store for my "September Favorites" post!

xoxo,
Chelsea

September days are here,
With summer's best of weather
And autumn's best of cheer."
