Nordstrom Rack Haul Pt. 2 - The Perfect Maxi Skirt!

Outfit Details:
*Quoted words are brands.

"Lush" powder pink scoop neck, hi-low tee: I tried to find this item everywhere on the Nordstrom Rack website, but they must have taken it down, just like this turquoise semi-sheer maxi skirt! So sad! I found a very similar version of the tee here (by the same brand and for under $20!).
I would still encourage you to go to your local Nordstrom Rack and look (I think in the juniors' section) for this top and/or skirt. It's not like I grabbed the last of each item - the racks were stocked.
Turquoise "Soprano" semi-sheer maxi skirt: Same dilemma as above, but I found a few similar options herehere and here!!
Yellow and turquoise necklace: old, way cuter (in my opinion) similar one here.
Gold wedges: old, similar here (and 20% off!) and here! (this one is more of a champagne color, but it still has a metallic look that will make your feet pop with a maxi skirt like mine!)

It's almost the weekend...

Some end-of-the-week encouragement:

If you work hard at whatever tasks you take on and stay present-minded, you will really feel like you earned your weekend! It will be here before you know it (if you stay present)!

Welcome to part 2 of my Nordstrom Rack Haul!

The fall weather has made its debut here in Colorado twice this past week! Even though I love autumn, I have mixed feelings about it. I get cold very easily and today, I walked outside from being in the cool air conditioning and feeling a cool breeze on my skin gave me instant goose bumps that I was not expecting! I don't think I'm ready for the weather to change yet! Walking out into the sunshine and feeling the warmth on my skin gives me goosebumps of a different kind - the kind you get when something feels so good and comforting. It's like when my mom used to take linens fresh out of the dryer and wrap them around me as a surprise - the warmth was so comforting.
I have always been that way with warmth and sunshine. I crave it. Sometimes I feel that I get in a funk during the winter time because it's commonly cold and cloudy.
I guess this means that Florida has left a permanent mark on me, which I'm totally fine with. It just makes my anticipation for summer greater and when it finally arrives, summer is that much more exciting.

Now onto to my outfit...
I love this maxi skirt! I have never owned a semi-sheer (I'm glad that the "semi" is clarified... ha) maxi skirt before and I am glad I chose this one as my first one!
I could also pair this skirt with a spaghetti strap tank top. Wearing a spaghetti strap tank would make the whole outfit look more summery and the thin straps would give it a delicate touch, which I like.
I wasn't sure how the gold wedges would look with the skirt, but I honestly think that this is a prime choice! The thick gold metallic straps on the wedges give this outfit the "pop" that it needs. A more comfortable alternative would be to pair the gold detailed sandals I wore in the previous post. They are also metallic gold!
Now that I think about it, any other shoe without a metallic touch would make it look a little more... ehhh... boring.
Therefore, my advice is to wear metallic gold or silver shoes with a maxi skirt like this.
I also like how the slip underneath the skirt is short, but it doesn't look too revealing, in my opinion, because of the sheer overlay. What I love about a semi-sheer skirt is that you don't have to fully commit to wearing a shorter skirt. You can, and at the same time, still have maximum coverage with the sheer overlay. This sheer overlay plays around with the idea that you're wearing something shorter, but not really. Because people occasionally get a glimpse that it's actually semi-sheer.
Does that make sense? Haha.
There you have it - my philosophy behind a semi-sheer skirt!
The slit in the skirt also makes this maxi extremely flattering to your calves.
You could make this look more bohemian with a longer gold or silver necklace, or even a layered necklace. Charming Charlie is currently promoting the layered necklace trend! Check out their layered necklaces here!

Okay, that's all I have for you today! Stay tuned for an "August favorites" post - coming SOON!

xoxo,
Chelsea
